ALPACA WHAT??
History
Originating from South America, alpacas are part of the camelid family of animals which also includes camels, guanacos, llamas and vicunas. Alpacas were domesticated over 6,000 years ago by the Incan Indians who raised them as prized processions for their superior fleece. They cultivated their fleece into beautifully crafted spun and woven garments. Once deemed as the “fiber of the gods” in their native country, alpaca products are now being appreciated and worn in many countries including the United States, Europe, Canada and Australia.
