As most of you know, we have decided to leave the alpaca business. In some sense, the decision was made for us. From December 23rd to January 2nd, I changed from a functioning individual to someone who couldn’t see, put a full sentence together and had difficulty walking on my own.

Within a few days, I was having a biopsy. Subsequently, I was diagnosed with Central Nervous System Lymphoma in the brain. I went through chemo and did receive a clear MRI in the spring. Only to find out that treatment still there was a 50% chance the cancer would not come back. I did enter a study being conducted by Swedish Hospital in Seattle using immunology instead of chemo. It had already been approved in four other cancers with a cure rate of 87%. I am not getting the target drug, but I am in the control group. I am being monitored every 5-months.

What I was recommended to do was to reduce stress, and I had been stressed. I had my animals, farm store, Harvest Host guests 4-days a week and I still tried to have a life. I wanted to continue to play softball and I wanted to enjoy my kids and grandchildren at the lake.

Therefore, our plan was to do away with everything (except family and softball). I currently have 4-females, (one with cria at her side) and 1-herdsire I own and 1-herdsire I co-own. I have created a package that includes the 4-females, 1-cria and 1-herdsire for a very low price of $5000. The one herdsire I own ½ interest in is GLR Joaquin. I would like to sell him independently, but would consider including him in this deal for a reasonable increase.
